Share the Love ~ Bloggers Unite ~ Artisans of the Month

Every two weeks there is a new Featured Artisan

Because of Illness I'm a little behind on my wonderful group

I apologize and Hope you all have many sales.

Featured Artisan This week is:

Mary Catherine Lunsford

I truly think this is such an amazing lady
and what a treasure she is just like her hearts.
I got to know her from being in another group together for Networking.
Mary Catherine is always so nice and helpful and supportive.
I couldn't ask for a nicer lovely lady.
So I was very excited to see that she was the Featured Artist.

Some of you may remember Mary as a Singing Artist

Mary Catherine Lunsford

Originally recorded during the summer of 1970 and released in 1971,

this Polydor recording of 'Mary Catherine Lunsford' has recently been re-packaged as a CD.

The vinyl recording has been seen for sale on Ebay and other rare record sites for extraordinary sums.

I began my performing career in 1965 at the age of 17

in a small club called The Paradox in Tustin, CA.

where muscians would gather to sign-up on a list to perform 3 songs or for 15 minutes

 in the Thursday night Hootenanny.

This led to playing what might be referred to as a circuit of 'Hoot' nights in coffee houses

such as The Golden Bear in Huntington Beach,

The 5 Muses in San Clemente,

Doug Weston’s Troubadour on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood

and The Whole in Glendale + others.

Known as the 'California Folkies' we honed our skills

during a rich and inspired decade of music.

I had the privilege of knowing, learning from and/or performing with

Jackson Brown, Mary McCaslin, Penny Nichols, Steve Noonan,

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Hoyt Axton, Linda Ronstadt,

Tim Buckley, Steve Gillette, Pat Paulsen, Jose Feliciano,

The Sunshine Company, Steve Martin,

John Denver, Brewer and Shipley, just to list a few.

I wrote and perform the eleven songs on the album.

'Mary Catherine Lunsford' was released in 1971

during the same week as Carol King's 'Tapestry' album.

My claim to fame that week was a billboard on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, CA.

Alas, as youth is apt to be rather an egotistic time in ones life,

I thought that billboard would be only the first of many and never took a photo!

I love this photo of her,

She reminds me of my Mom and Aunts.

She is a beautiful lady from the Heart

Wait there is more :)

There is so much more to learn about her and her work and art.

I hope you check out Mary Catherine's Facebook

See her smiling face and Follow Mary Catherine's Tweets on Twitter

I hope you stop by any of these sites to tell a very lovely lady Hello

For the holidays keep her in mind.

The Holidays are the best time to give someone your heart.
